For the past few weeks, EV drivers in Kuwait City have been able to experience not only the latest vehicle models but also cutting-edge charging technology built to withstand one of the world’s harshest climates. The installation of two ABB E-mobility C50 chargers at the headquarters of Alhasawi Group, a leading provider of cooling and heating equipment, marks a key milestone in deploying charging technology reliably under extreme climate conditions. The chargers were installed and are operated by Teyyar, Kuwait’s largest charge point operator (CPO) for this site and a company under Alhasawi Group. This initiative is part of a broader effort to establish a resilient nationwide charging network.
Reliable Charging in One of the World’s Hottest Cities

The installation is part of ABB E-mobility’s Early Adopter Program (EAP), which places charging hardware in real-world scenarios to fine-tune product performance and reliability. Kuwait, where summer temperatures regularly exceed 50°C, presents a particularly demanding environment making it an ideal testing ground.

"We are happy to partner with ABB E-mobility as part of their EAP and to validate the capabilities of the C50 at our headquarters in Kuwait City, one of the hottest places in the world, with temperatures exceeding 50°C in the summer. When operating in extreme conditions, reliability is non-negotiable. ABB E-mobility’s C50 charger convinced us both in terms of performance and service quality. And it meets our high standards for design and user experience," said Ali AlSabee of Alhasawi Group.

Designed for high-traffic public locations, the C50 is optimized for the typical 30-to-90-minute dwell time. Its intuitive, smartphone-like interface, high-resolution touchscreen, and user-centric design make charging effortless – helping to simplify the transition to electric mobility.

More Than a Pilot: A Partnership to Advance E-Mobility in the Region

Therefore, the collaboration under the Early Adopter Program is more than a performance validation in extreme heat. It demonstrates what reliable, user-friendly charging should look like in practice.

“Real-world feedback from challenging locations like Kuwait City is invaluable in helping us refine our solutions where they matter most: in everyday use under demanding conditions,” said Bruno Bourguet, President EMEA at ABB E-mobility. “At ABB E-mobility, we aim to make EV charging more intuitive and accessible – a goal we share with Alhasawi. Their strong focus on reliability, design, and operational excellence makes them a trusted partner in our Early Adopter Program.”

To accelerate Kuwait’s transition to sustainable transport, Alhasawi Group aims to expand the country’s charging network by providing charging opportunities every 20 to 25 kilometers. In partnership with ABB E-mobility Teyyar plans to install scalable EV charging solutions at eight locations nationwide by 2026 – shaping the country’s urban mobility landscape.
