ABB E-mobility has taken another step in its mission to help fleet operators Electrify Mobility, with the installation of its new A400 All-In-One Fast Charger at two DACHSER logistics sites in Germany.
The first two A400s have already been installed at two locations in Germany as part of the Early Adopter Program (EAP). The installation marks an important step in both companies’ sustainability journeys.
The A400, delivering up to 400 kW of power, was designed with uptime and reliability in mind — essential features for logistics operations that depend on efficient and timely delivery. Within the EAP DACHSER provides ABB E-mobility with valuable feedback on how the charger performs in real-world fleet operations, allowing the company to finetune its product to better meet the needs of logistics providers.
Installations in Dortmund, Nuremberg and Malsch
One of the installations was at DACHSER’s Dortmund logistics center which services a defined inner-city area exclusively with battery-electric vehicles (DACHSER Emission-Free Delivery), one of currently 14 branches across Europe which makes it an ideal location to test the A400.
The second site in Nuremberg, a key facility for food logistics, will see the A400 charging electric trucks that serve a wide network of retailers, hotels, and other businesses. Its location offers excellent access to major highways, ensuring efficient distribution. The A400 is the first electric vehicle charger DACHSER deployed in Nuremberg.
A third installation is going to be commissioned in the near future at DACHSER’s site in Malsch, Malsch is one out of three E-mobility sites in Germany, where DACHSER explores zero-emission drive technologies and smart energy management solutions.
As DACHSER expands its emission-free delivery zones in inner-cities and expands the use of battery-electric long-range heavy-duty trucks, reliable and fast charging solutions like the A400 will be critical to maintaining its operations and achieving its sustainability goals.
