As 2025 draws to a close, we are looking back on a year defined by rapid innovation, industry recognition, and the acceleration of infrastructure deployment across passenger vehicle, commercial fleet, and heavy-duty transport segments.

When charging scales, priorities change, and this year’s achievements underscore an ongoing evolution: moving beyond standalone charging products to comprehensive platform solutions. Every new site electrified and kWh delivered reflects a shared commitment with our customers to address the industry-wide challenges of usability, reliability, and scalability.

Key Moments and Engineering Breakthroughs

In April, we completed the transition to our next-generation, platform-based product portfolio, launching three new products built on a unified architecture: the A200/300/A400 All-in-One chargers with field-upgradeable power, the MCS1200 for megawatt truck charging, and ChargeDock Dispenser for flexible, high-power depot charging in combination with HVC360.

"Our platform-based approach and telecom-style system architecture have enabled us to develop and launch five distinct products in just one year."

Michael Halbherr CEO

From this foundation came one of the year’s most exciting developments: the commercial introduction of megawatt charging. Our MCS1200 was put through its paces in landmark tests with MAN Truck & Bus, proving safe, stable performance at 1,000 amps. These trials validated critical benchmarks for the future of long-haul truck electrification. And when Germany’s first public megawatt charging site opened along the Autobahn A2, our solution delivered real-world charging sessions that demonstrated how MCS can fit seamlessly into mandated driver breaks.

Innovation didn’t stop at hardware. This year, customers began using our HMI Brand Configurator, a tool that allows operators to personalize the digital experience while maintaining the intuitive UI that earned multiple design awards. Praised by technology leaders as best-in-class, seeing branded customer journeys come to life in the field is proof of how far we’ve advanced the charging experience.

In our commitment to deliver telecom-level uptime, we introduced a new modular service model to keep networks performing at their best. Combining remote service, on-site support, asset intelligence and spare parts availability, our comprehensive service packages address the key drivers of uptime while giving operators the flexibility to tailor coverage to their site-level needs.

Recognizing Excellence: Design Awards for A400 & C50

Intuitive, accessible, and premium charging became a core pillar of product development in 2025. This commitment earned ABB E-mobility global recognition, with the A400 receiving an iF Design Award for both User Interface and User Experience, alongside a Red Dot Award for Product Design. The C50, our compact fast charger, also claimed a Red Dot Award for its streamlined form and clarity of interaction. These accolades highlight how design decisions at ABB E-mobility go beyond aesthetics, and confirm our belief that smart, thoughtful design is a key driver of EV adoption.

Showcasing Innovation on a Global Stage

Throughout the year, we brought our next-generation products to some of the world’s leading industry events, strengthening our position as a trusted technology partner with defined segment solutions. At ACT Expo in Anaheim, we introduced the full Ares portfolio to the North American market and drew attention with our unique HMI Brand Configurator.

"Our presence at ACT this year marked a turning point for us as a company. It wasn’t just about showcasing four breakthrough innovations, it was about sending a clear message that we’re not just participating in this industry, we’re shaping it. The launch of our comprehensive portfolio is proof of that."

Brandt Hastings President of North America

The focus shifted to Europe’s fast-growing public and fleet charging segments at Power2Drive in Munich, where we demonstrated how modular architecture can scale operations while reducing total cost of ownership. And at Busworld in Brussels, depot charging innovations, including the HVC Cable Balancer, showed how high-power systems can integrate seamlessly into existing set ups, enabling the transition to zero-emission public transit. During these events, we delivered countless product and software demonstrations and hosted more than 150 meetings with operators, OEMs, and fleet managers.
